Description : G. Arthur (Gustav Arthur) Cooper (1902-2000) and his wife Josephine Cooper presented here at work in his office in the Division of Invertebrate Paleontology, United States National Museum, now the National Museum of Natural History in June 1954. Specimens of fossil brachiopods can be seen on the desktop as well, where his wife works at the window. Josephine, who was not at the Smithsonian’s payroll, trained in geology and supports her husband in collecting and identifying samples. They also have most of the department of invertebrate paleontology in Russian translation. Josephine Cooper was also a founding member of the Women’s Committee of the Smithsonian, a fundraising organization Creator / Photographer .
